The SPI Story

At SPI, we believe there’s a better way to manage information for infrastructure related organisations and major capital projects. A more efficient, productive way where behaviours, processes and technology align to deliver more equitable outcomes. Since 2005, we’ve built a reputation as the ‘industry’s friend’, working impartially and collaboratively at the heart of some of the world’s largest construction and infrastructure projects.

We take on the engineering risk in roles such as the Lead Integrator on capital projects and we're driven by the opportunity to make a difference, to improve and advance the way projects perform and businesses deliver.

Our Background

In 2005 our founders were working on one of the most complex parts of Network Rail's £10bn West Coast Route Modernisation Programme. We built a highly competent team that helped recover months of design programme and we decided to form SPI to help other major projects with their delivery challenges. We quickly realised that there were fundamental integration issues with design and construction on every major project.

SPI formed in 2008 and we quickly built a reputation for making a positive impact on Railway investment projects. Not only were there challenges with Design Integration but also with Construction Planning, Document Management, Project Controls, Survey Management, Stakeholder Engagement and more - All related to information management. Accountability and Impartiality were real issues!

Today

Today, we leverage our £30bn+ of delivery expertise to support enterprises with their operational & capital delivery challenges internationally. We focus on not only the enabling technology but lean process and the right behaviours.

As a medium sized organisation we serve a wide, and growing, range of sectors and clients. We're now a trusted partner serving Rail, Aviation, Highways, Ports, Utilities, Power Generation, Communications, Buildings, Nuclear, Defence, Heritage and Environment Clients.

We predominately work with Asset Owner Operators, PMO's and Main Contractors but we also support investors, technology providers and engineers.

Our Culture

We promote diversity, new ideas and a healthy work life balance.

We're fortunate to work on the largest and most interesting projects; each has new challenges to overcome. Innovation is at the heart of SPI – our people push the boundaries, create new solutions to long standing problems and exceed our clients’ expectations.

We wholeheartedly believe in the mantra that “we are nothing without our people”, which is why our managing director, Simon Wray, decided to sponsor the Investors In People initiative across the business. This unusual step for a small company helped bring all our people closer together.

Simon has over 20 years international experience supporting major projects with engineering integration, design management and project controls.
