SPI is an independent management consultancy based in the UK. We play important roles in the delivery of complex capital projects and whole life information management.
Why we exist
We formed in 2008 with a vision to improve the way major railway projects were delivered. The complexity of railway projects often led to delays, cost overrun and challenges for safety. Client teams were under increasing pressure to integrate and coordinate thousands of people and hundreds of thousands of pieces of information on projects valued in the billions of pounds.
Our engineering management and technical expertise helped mitigate those risks delivering major benefits - months of programme recovered, millions in costs avoided and importantly the reduction in on site accidents.
Today we've matured in to a medium sized organisation and we serve a wide range of sectors and clients. Whilst Rail remains a major part of our expertise, we now serve Highways, Utilities, Civil Engineering, Buildings, Nuclear and Defence sectors.
Client side support remains a core role and we now work closely with Contractors and Engineers, together we've helped deliver projects valued in excess of £26bn.
We promote diversity, new ideas and a healthy work life balance.
We're fortunate to work on the largest and most interesting projects, each has new challenges to overcome. Innovation is at the heart of SPI - Our people push the boundaries, create new solutions to long standing problems and exceed our clients expectations.
Our leadership team have a wealth of experience, though it was recognised that sustainable growth could only be achieved by providing an engaging environment for our people.
Simon Wray, our Managing Director, once said "we are nothing without our people" and went on to sponsor the Investors In People initiative across the business, this unusual step for a small company helped bring all our people closer together.
Simon has 20 years international experience supporting major projects with engineering integration, design management and project controls.
Michelle Zompi, our Head of Information Management and Technology, enjoyed a distinguished career in Law and Data Analytics prior to joining SPI. Michelle leads a team of experienced and talented consultants, specialists and technologists.
Keith Wakeford, our Head of Modelling and Simulation, is responsible for researching, developing and delivering visual and interactive solutions using his 20+ years experience in the industry, a significant amount of which was spent in defence.
